Well, hello!
Hope your May is off to a good start! Thought I'd check in and share a few things I've been loving lately in hopes that you might find something you'll enjoy too. No affiliate links, just my desire to share a few of my favorites with you!

Little Nickel - This restaurant in Richmond's Forest Hill neighborhood is just SO GOOD. On the rare occasion when Sky and I get a chance to get out without the kids, we choose Little Nickel more times than not. If you go, get the Hawaiian Nachos; you won't be sorry.
The Latecomer by Jean Hanff Korelitz - This was my book club pick last month and I really enjoyed it! An interesting novel about a dysfunctional family, this book kept my attention and I recommend it.
Carrot Cake - Um, yes! This is my go-to spring dessert recipe when we're having guests, and it's always a hit. The recipe was passed on to me from a friend years ago and it's one of my most treasured! Not one if you're watching your sugar intake, to be sure, but desserts are meant to be a little sweet, right?
Rothy's Drivers - I've owned a couple of pairs of Rothy's pointed toe shoes previously, and I wore them every day when I worked in an office; comfy, washable, and stylish - win win win! I recently ordered a pair of the “Drivers” during a sale, and I've really loved them. They've got a bit more support (important for these aging feet - ha!) and I love that they're made from reused plastic bottles AND they're washable! I have a burgundy pair, but am swooning over these light pink ones! They're pricey, to be sure, but they run sales relatively frequently, the shoes LAST (and are machine washable!), and they offer a discount for teachers and health care workers, so definitely take advantage of that if you're eligible!
Chatbooks - I know there are a few options like this out there, but we've really enjoyed our Chatbooks Monthly Mini subscription. It's $7 a month, and each month (when I remember - otherwise I do a bunch at a time!) I can select 30 photos from my phone to have printed in a sweet little book. It's a great way to get the photos off your phone and into your hands, and it's definitely a highlight when they arrive in the mailbox amongst the bills and junk mail!
Hamilton soundtrack - The off-Broadway musical recently came to Richmond, and I got to go! Sky got me tickets for my Christmas gift, and although it was hard to wait all the way until April, it was such a wonderful show. The music is so fantastic and I've been listening to the soundtrack on repeat! Lin-Manuel Miranda is such a genius.
Teacher Appreciation Week Idea - When I posted last week on Instagram about my Gift Giving Formula, I asked for suggestions from you about what you love to give (or get!) for gifts. One former teacher chimed in with the most wonderful suggestion: a positive, affirming email from parents CC'ed to the school principal. Such a simple gesture but so meaningful - and free! I have it on my calendar to do this next week for my kids' teachers.
Farmer's Markets - It's that time again! The RVA Big Market at Bryan Park opens for the summer season TOMORROW, May 6, and you'll find me there with all of your favorites! Swing by between 8am - 12pm and say hi!
